Labour holds Southwark Council seats

Catherine Rose and James Coldwell were elected as Labour councillors in College ward and Newington ward respectively, on by-elections held on 5th May 2016.

Catherine Rose won the seat in College ward, Dulwich vacated by Helen Hayes following her election as Member of Parliament for Dulwich & West Norwood. Catherine received 2,258 votes, over 1,200 ahead of her nearest challenger, the Conservative candidate.

James Coldwell was elected in Newington ward, in the seat vacated by Neil Coyle following his election as Member of Parliament for Bermondsey & Old Southwark. James was elected with 2,829 votes, more than 2,100 votes ahead of the Lib Dems.
